Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.
A senior official commented the incident made him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
